POCKET KNIVES & MULTITOOLS

How to close your pocket knife

At the joint where the blade opens and folds closed is a serrated metal piece. That is the safety locking device.

  1. Carefully hold the open pocket knife with the blade facing up.
  2. Push the serrated piece off the blade joint, towards the handle frame, and gently and carefully push the blade closed.

Seat Belt Cutter (the blunt point at the end of the handle) and Glass Cutter

At the end of the pocket knife is a blunt metal point that will break car window glass when forcibly pushed against it. DO NOT USE IT ON YOUR CAR GLASS UNLESS IT'S AN EMERGENCY.

Also at the end of the pocket knife is a cutting blade for seat belts and other thicker material.

Why did my pocket knife arrive with liquid on it?

Upon the purchase of your new product, your pocket knife or multitool may appear wet or greasy. This is oil to keep the joint lubricated. Simply use a clean cloth to wipe off. Your knife or multitool is ready to use.

How to sharpen your pocket knife

You will need a sharpening stone or sharpening apparatus, your pocket knife, and a lubricant (optional). For a general-purpose pocket knife, a medium-grit will work fine.

Lubricating the stone will help prevent the stone from clogging and make it easier to sharpen your knife.

SHARPENING STONE

Hold the pocket knife in one hand and the stone or apparatus in the other. The knife should be held at a 20-degree angle to the stone.

Move the pocket knife back and forth across the sharpening stone in a smooth, even motion. Apply light pressure as you do this.

Repeat these steps until the knife is sharp.

SHARPENING APPARATUS

Hold the knife in one hand and the apparatus in the other.

Hold the knife at approximately 45-degree angle against the crisscrossed sharpening blades, drawing or pulling the knife back towards yourself. You can apply a little more pressure than if using a sharpening stone.

Repeat this step until the knife is sharp.

IMPORTANT TIPS

Wipe the blade with a clean cloth when finished.

Wear safety glasses when sharpening your pocket knife.

Be very careful not cut yourself.

Do not over-sharpen the blade, as this can make it dangerous to use.

If you are not comfortable sharpening your knife yourself, take it to a professional.

FIRE STARTER KIT

FERRO STICK & STRIKER

The black coating should be removed before attempting to light a fire. Using the end of the striker, scrape off the black coating.

STARTING A FIRE

  1. Before starting a fire, use the striker, scrape off ferro metal flecks on to fire tinder (wood shavings, lint, dried leaves, etc.)
  2. To light the tinder, hit the striker against the ferro stick in a hard, quick, downward stroke towards the tinder. With practice and a little luck, the tinder will light on your first attempt.
  3. Place the light tinder onto your fire, and slowly adding more wood shavings and kindling until fire has caught and sustaining.
